We believe that every sustainable product sold is taking an unsustainable product off of the market, so our goal is to replace the negative with the positive one product at a time, one day at a time.
We grew out of a single product, All Star Gum, which is the worlds only environmentally friendly Shoe Repair product invented by Alex Collignon of France. Owner of Satirical Distribution, Keith Warter, was searching desperately for a sustainable shoe repair product after years of frustration that there was only one single product on the market, and it contained carcinogenic nauseating solvents.
Keith grew up doing many sports that required a lot of traction on his shoes. The most demanding of these was skateboarding. skateboarders need shoe repair products unless they are successful amateurs or professionals and get free shoes whenever they want. This is because your shoes experience lots of sliding friction on the grip tape, especially when doing tricks like ollies and other flip tricks, because you must slide your foot along the grip to even the board out in the air.
This causes holes to form very quickly, and your shoes can be done in days if you don't use
shoe repairing goos to patch holes as they are just starting. Growing up Keith used the only repairing goo that was on the market even though he would often feel nauseated from its toxic fumes when wearing his shoes in the car or in other enclosed spaces due to its carcinogenic solvents and other ingredients.
It wasn't until he got older and attended the University of California Berkeley where he studied Psychology and sustainability that he realized that these solvents in many products can actually have toxic neurological effects on the brain, and can even cause cancer.
Furthermore, since using them on shoes and other sporting items that experience wear leads inevitably to the debris from these products rubbing off into the environment, he realized that skateboarding with these toxic shoe repairing goos was not only unhealthy for him, but also is getting sanded off by his grip into the environment where it can be breathed by his friends!
After researching the ill effects of all of these carcinogenic materials in solvents and other repairing products he set out to try to find a product that would allow him to continue to be able to skateboard and do other extreme sports that required a lot of traction without having a negative effect on the environment and his own health. After searching long and wide around the world he was only able to find one small company in France that had developed a product called All Star Gum. He arranged the biggest shipment he could to make shipping as relatively cheap per tube as possible and tried the stuff out.
He found that the stuff not only worked better than other shoe repairing goos but it also could be used to customize your t-shirts, hats, and even your shoes with cool designs, and it didn't smell like nauseating solvents. Not to mention that it came in brown and white which no other shoe repairing goo had ever done before! He had come across the perfect product because he loved wearing shoes with white soles, so the white blended right in, and his shoes didn't look so tattered anymore.
From this Keith started giving the stuff to friends and family who do extreme sports, and he started selling it to skateboard shops slowly as they started hearing about this new product. The first of these was One Way Board Shop in Central California, who played a big role in helping bring this awesome product to America.
From here it became this companies mission to continue bringing the the worlds leading environmentally and life friendly products to market to help eliminate pollution and waste, and increase health and happiness.
